Farmers Markets Are a Cornerstone of America

As we close out National Farmers Market Week, we reflect on the impact farmers markets have on preserving America’s rural livelihood and farmland.

The Daniels Farmstead Farmers Market is just one of almost 10,000 farmers markets around the country, and we are proud to be part of continuing that tradition right here in Blackstone. National Farmers Market Week, running August 2 – August 8, is a time where we can put extra emphasis on recognizing the farmers that keep America’s backbone strong, encourage healthy communities, stimulate the economy, and promote sustainable farming practices. We are especially grateful to share our market farmers with our community.

This week, and every week, we thank our local farmers for their hard work in bringing farm-fresh goods to our tables, and we encourage our guests to support them and the local farmers in their communities.

Support Local Farmers, Buy Fresh Produce

The Daniels Farmstead Farmers Market is proud to host 4 local farms at our Sunday markets, and they all bring something unique to the table. Stone Meadow Hand Grown Produce takes pride in the property they farm on. The land Stone Meadow operates on has been a farm for over 275 years, and they continue the tradition of local farming by bringing specialty, artisan crops and fresh cut flowers from the land to your hands.

Willy’s Way Farm is a family-run business, dedicated to serving their community with fresh, locally grown, all-organic vegetables. In particular, their corn is nothing short of spectacular. Farm-fresh doesn’t lie, and you can taste the care that went into growing every cob.

Tillfree Farm and Services treats nature as a model. Something to work with, not against. They practice eco-friendly, regenerative agriculture – using things such as locally sourced compost, wood chips, and leaves in place of bagged fertilizers, and by raising their crops with companion plants to attract beneficial insects and naturally control pests. Their seasonal vegetables and herbs are as natural as they come, make sure to try something from their stand and taste the difference.

Pranaveda Farm proudly grows on the Daniels Farmstead property. With a variety of vegetables and cut flowers, you can be assured that their product came from just a stone’s throw away. As self-made farmers, the folks at Pranaveda learned from the very best, and collaborate with each other and the land to produce wholesome produce.

The “And More” of Produce and More

Each Sunday holds a variety of small business vendors who bring their handcrafted products to the market. All natural body care products from Handmade Gifts & More will both smell delicious, and delight your skin. Healthy Express speaks for itself – if you’re interested in healthy snacks like trail mix, flavored nuts, and baked goods, this is the spot for you!

Candles are always abundant, with CandleInterpretations artistically-inspired candles and Lisa’s Mia Bella Candles’ all natural, clean-burning palm way candles. Laney Cakes Farm Stand & Boutique has curated bamboo goods – their pajamas are soft as can be, and will keep you cool all summer long. Jackson’s Creative can help beautify your home with hand-painted log ornaments, native windchimes, gnomes and more.

If you’re planning on a big home renovation soon, take the time to chat with the team from United Home Experts, who will be on site offering information to homeowners on their projects and priorities – they may even have a toy for the little ones!

Grab Something Sweet… Or Savory

This week, we have a new baked goods vendor joining us at the farm – Lil’ Miss Bakery – who will bring an assortment of products such as sourdough bread, bagels, cookies, scones and more. Sophie’s Apples will fulfill your sweet tooth with their delicious gourmet caramel and candied apples, and if apples aren’t your thing, grab a scoop of hard ice cream topped with just about everything at T.C. Scoops.

Don’t forget to pick up your dinner at Pinci Foods Lasagneria, who will be selling their frozen, handmade lasagnas.

Doris’ Grill will be serving up summer fare all afternoon long, grab a burger and wash it down with award-winning, fresh-squeezed lemonade or limeade from Twizted Beveragez.

Don’t Forget to Have Fun

Zach and Ben will be playing live music from 12 PM – 2 PM, kick back or get down to covers of some of your favorite, feel-good songs. There will also be lots of opportunities to have fun and play some lawn games in between the festivities.

Support the Farm and Stay Up-to-Date

Admission to the farmers market is free, although food and vendor purchases are sold separately. While not required, parking donations are appreciated and go directly towards supporting the Daniels Farmstead, preserving the historic property, and ensuring we can continue to grow our community events year-after-year.
