Each summer, the Daniels Farmstead welcomes the community for a day filled with history, music, local food, and family fun. This year’s Freedom Festival will be especially meaningful as we gather to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary on Sunday, July 5.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Daniels Farmstead, the festival will blend patriotic traditions with the welcoming atmosphere of a summer day on the farm. Historical interpreters and lively fife and drum performances will offer visitors a glimpse into the past, helping bring the stories and spirit of early America to life.
A highlight of the afternoon will be a special performance by the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, find a comfortable spot on the grounds, and enjoy an afternoon of music in this one-of-a-kind historic setting.
Families will find plenty to explore throughout the property. Visitors of all ages can tour the historic Daniels farmhouse and learn more about the property, the people who lived here, and the ongoing work to preserve it. A local historian who has recently joined the foundation’s board of directors has spent the off-season (spring 2026) redesigning the tour experience of the farmhouse, reorganizing the collection, and spearheading the preservation efforts of the house and collection.
Freedom Festival will also mark the opening of the Daniels Farmstead’s 2026 Farmers Market season. Guests can shop from local farmers, makers, bakers, and artisans who offer locally grown produce, handcrafted goods, and seasonal treats.
Come hungry, because there will be plenty to enjoy throughout the day! Doris’ Kitchen will serve festival favorites featuring summer fare prepared by Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern. Guests can also enjoy craft beer in the South Field and visit Murder Hill Brewery (offering samples) near Doris’ Kitchen.
Parking donations will be gratefully accepted to help preserve and maintain the Farmstead’s fields. Visitors can also learn about membership opportunities and other ways to support the restoration and continued care of this important Blackstone landmark.
Join us on Sunday, July 5, for a memorable celebration of history, music, community, and America’s 250th anniversary at the Daniels Farmstead.
