The Art of Pysanky: A Hands-On Workshop Benefitting The Daniels Farmstead

The Daniels Farmstead is excited to host a unique cultural workshop, The Art of Pysanky, where participants can learn the traditional Ukrainian art of decorating eggs. This three-hour, beginner-friendly class, led by a talented local artist, will take place on November 8, 2024 at Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern, offering an engaging hands-on experience for all skill levels.

Each attendee will use a kistka, a traditional stylus, to write intricate designs on a chicken egg with melted beeswax, which is applied in stages between dye baths of increasingly darker colors. Once the final design is revealed by melting off the wax, a vibrant, handcrafted pysanka will emerge, representing a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
